This is a Spiritual Matter: A Divine Call to Denounce

“I didn’t realize that this was spiritual warfare!”

This is a Spiritual Matter is a lightweight, but serious memoir of the author’s Christian walk depicting areas of defeat and ultimate victory as she reflects upon how she slipped off the path of faith and into a life of idolatry. Kneeling at an altar for sorority initiation doesn’t seem so bad when you’re unaware of the false god behind the face of the organization. It was a series of life’s limitation holding her back for almost two decades that began to seem less than coincidental and made her question the whys behind the setbacks.

By the time she heeded God’s call to renounce, she was familiar with stories of former sorority and fraternity members who’d also denounced. Now willing to abandon her own resistance to truth, the significance of her previous actions became clear, including actions involving an ungodly covenant, dark rituals, and celestial hymns she sang that masked an antichrist spirit. What she hadn’t realized was that there were consequences for these actions. A portal had been opened giving access to demonic activity connected to curses and blocking her assigned blessings. Unknowingly, she’d invited a false god along for the ride of her life, leaving room for misrepresentation of favor that could only come from God; and until she could rid herself of the association with falsehood, she’d never see the true assignment on her life.

It wasn’t until after she reclaimed her identity in Christ that the scales on her eyes fell off. God exposed the truth behind lies she believed both sorority and non-sorority related. God revealed areas in her life that were negatively impacted by her actions for almost two decades. In addition to the ungodly oath she’d taken, her eyes were opened to previous indiscretion that lived in her heart; an ugly root of pride and unbelief that sanctioned a spirit of self-reliance.  She’d abandoned her trust in God, manipulating her own circumstances and derailing the plans God had for her life. The author now gives thanks for  the resistance she met that proved exhausting; an exhaustion that steered her to a place of surrender.

Falling victim to the wiles of the devil came so easily and knocked her off course. Fortunately, God has a way of causing all things to work together for the good of those who love the LORD! (Romans 8:28)
